$2.4M COMMITMENT TO JAMISON PARK GROUND IMPROVEMENTS BY FIONA SCOTT AND TONY ABBOTT
For many years our members have been raising the issue of floodlighting and ground surface conditions at Jamison Park and while Penrith Council and NDSFA have been very supportive in providing assistance where possible, funding has always been a problem. With this in mind and with a Federal election looming your club made some inquiries with both political parties to see what they were prepared to do to assist us in improving the facilites at Jamison Park. Local Liberal candidate, Fiona Scott took up our offer to discuss the issue and gave an undertaking that she would do what she could. Today your club and other local sports representatives, were invitied to a media release by Fiona Scott at Jamison Park where they were also met by Federal Liberal Leader, Tony Abbott. We are very pleased with their joint announcement of a commitment of $5M to grassroots local sporting facilities within Penrith, of which $2.4M will being specifically directed towards Jamison Park for new amenities, new floodlighting, field reconstruction and playground upgrade. This is great news not just for Penrith FC but for District Football and the entire local sporting community since funding is also earmarked for improvements to facilites for Rugby League. Union, AFL, hockey, athletics and indoor sports. Penrith FC would like to thank Fiona Scott for taking the time to listen to our concerns and for her efforts in achieving this financial commitment not just for local football but for the entire community of Penrith.
